Which board size to choose?
Big topic ! Which size skateboard to choose? This question has obviously no easy answer. It will depend on several parameters: your level, your size, your riding style, etc. But we'll try to give you an overview of the different choices available to you. Let's get started!
The basics
Before we start, you should know that most of the time, when we talk about the size of a skateboard, we talk about its width.
Also, the size of a skateboard is always expressed in inches (").
The width generally varies from 7″ to 9″ = 17.78 and 22.86 cm.
The length is between 29″ and 33″ = 73.66 and 83.82cm
Beginning skateboarding
Although the differences in measurements may seem large, when you are just starting out, the width of your board will not have a big impact on your performance. It is only when your level improves that you will be able to determine which board size you prefer.
Weight/Height/Size
Of course, for young riders, a thinner board is preferable.
And for tall, heavy and/or big-footed riders, we recommend a wider board (from 8.5″).
The main thing is that you stand comfortably on your board. If your feet stick out too much, it can become difficult to manage, so choose the width of your board according to this parameter.
Your type of ride
A thin board will make it easier for you to perform tricks. The whole thing will be light and therefore more manageable.
A wide board will be stronger and certainly more comfortable as there is more space for your feet.
