How to choose your scooter?

First of all, let's remember that freestyle scooters are different from "classic" scooters.

To improve durability, freestyle scooters aren't foldable and the height of the handlebard isn't adjustable. The handlebar is in one piece for the same purpose: make the scooter stronger and more resistant.

A scooter that works for you!

Here we are! Are you ready to buy your freestyle scooter?

Awesome, but be craful! You'll need to find the one that works for YOU!

Here are the important points that will help you choose the one.

1) Skill level

All freestyle scooters are perfectly adapted to begineers. For more seasoned scooter riders, it's better to select a high-end model that can take your sickest tricks!

2) Street or Park?

Street

Do you like to go for strolls, looking for spots to do you favourite tricks? That means you must be a street rider!

You'll need an extremely durable scooter because you'll find more aggressive surfaces to ride on. That means you'll need a larger board / deck, more resistant with more room for your feet. This will increase your stability on long grinds!

Park

Do you like to do tricks non-stop on monstrous ramps? You're a park rider!

You'll need a light, easy-to-handle scooter. They're made of aluminium and have a shorter board/deck, which will let you do the sickest tricks in skateparkrs!

3) The size

When we discuss the size of a scooter, we're talking about the height of the handlebar.

The handlebars for an intermediate rider should generally be positioned just below the waist.

  • For riders measuring between 1m00 and 1m40, we recommend a handlebar of less than 580mm.

  • For riders measuring between 1m20 and 1m60, we recommend a handlebar that's 580mm up to 630mm.

  • For riders taller than 1m60, we recommend a handlebar that's taller than 630mm.

Your riding style will influence the height of your handlebar as well.

For the street, you'll need handlebars that are little higher and for skateparks, handlebars that are a little lower.

4) The wheels

The size of the wheels is also an important factor.

You will have the choice between 100/110/120/125mm.

The larger the wheel's diameter, the more speed you'll gather.

Most scooters have core metal wheels with ABEC 9 or 11 bearings.

5) The price

Choosing an inexpensive scooter is often a false economy. Indeed, it might not be durable enough to withstand your jumps and falls long enough to be worthwile.

In general, it will be necessary to spend at least 100 euros for the first quality models.

The best-selling freestyle scooters have prices that range from 100 to 200 euros.

There, you've got all the information you need to choose your scooter, but don't forget to take how you feel into account!
